Welcome to Relax-Restore massage by Hannah Sports Massage

A therapist giving a back massage in a spa.

About Me

At Relax-Restore massage by Hannah, I'm dedicated to providing tailored massage treatments to help everyone, from athletes and active individuals prevent injuries, recover from training, and perform at their best, to office workers and more. As an experienced massage therapist, I combine a range of techniques, including deep tissue massage, myofascial dry cupping, and trigger point therapy, to create customized treatment plans tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Services

I offer a variety of services to help you achieve optimal physical performance and overall well-being. My services include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial dry cupping, relaxation massage, head and scalp massage, and more. Whether you need relief from pain or tension through trigger point therapy, want to improve your flexibility and range of motion with deep tissue massage, or are looking to relax and regulate your nervous system with myofascial dry cupping, I can help.

Benefits of Massage

Massage therapy offers numerous benefits, including improved physical health through techniques like deep tissue massage, which promotes weight loss, increases muscle tone, and aids recovery from physical exertion. It helps reduce stress and anxiety, enhances circulation, and improves sleep quality. By sending the body into a state of housekeeping, massage facilitates healing and repair through the increased circulation of fresh, oxygenated blood that nourishes all the body’s needs. Additionally, it boosts self-esteem and plays a protective role in mental health. Techniques such as myofascial dry cupping and trigger point therapy stimulate the lymphatic system, enhancing the body’s immunity. Moreover, massage provides relief from muscular aches and pains, aids in reducing scar tissue and stretch marks, and helps to detoxify the body by increasing circulation to eliminate toxins like lactic acid. Overall, massage stimulates the release of endorphins, contributing to overall wellness.

Rugular massage sessions

Having regular massage is essential for maintaining both your body and mind in optimal condition. Regular treatments, such as deep tissue massage or myofascial dry cupping, help to remove knots and tension before they escalate into larger problems. If you find yourself experiencing significant built-up tension, ongoing sessions with a skilled therapist familiar with techniques like trigger point therapy can be more beneficial than trying to address everything in a single visit.

For those with busy lives who experience mental and physical tension, incorporating regular massage into your routine is akin to taking your daily vitamins.

There are no strict guidelines on how often you should receive a massage; generally, the more frequent your sessions, the greater the benefits. Massage serves as a wonderful method to rebalance yourself whenever you feel the need.

Most clients schedule their massage sessions weekly, bi-monthly, or even once every 4-6 weeks. However, it’s best not to wait until you’re overwhelmed with aches and pains! While one-off sessions can effectively address new issues or tensions from stress or injuries, regular massage sessions are key to maintaining your overall well-being and preventing these issues from recurring.

How do I book my Massage

The easiest way to book your deep tissue massage, myofascial dry cupping, or trigger point therapy is online, through Fresha.

If you can't see the date or time you would like, feel free to send me a message on WhatsApp at 07454956754.

Where are you based

I am based in a salon in the center of Stockport called Preen, where you can indulge in a variety of treatments, including deep tissue massage, myofascial dry cupping, and trigger point therapy. Preen is a destination that's a home away from home. Pour yourself a drink, grab a biscuit, read a mag, and then enjoy your treatment. Address: Preen 1 St Petersgate, Stockport, SK1 1EB

Parking

The salon doesn't have its own parking, but there is plenty of parking on the streets around the salon and in a smaller car park. For those visiting for treatments like deep tissue massage, myofascial dry cupping, or trigger point therapy, the easiest place to park is the multistory car park, which is about a 3-minute walk from the salon. The car park postcode is SK1 1HG.

How not to behave during youor massage treatment

Please be aware that above all else, the massage sessions I offer are professional treatments. I am a qualified massage therapist specialising in techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial dry cupping, sports massage and therapeutic/holistic massage. I take a ZERO-TOLERANCE approach to anyone making requests of a sexual or inappropriate nature. I reserve the right to immediately terminate a session and ask the client to leave the premises (without a refund) if I believe they have crossed this line.

Below are a few guidelines regarding what I consider inappropriate behaviour from a client, in case you are unsure of what may be considered crossing the line.

Starting to undress while we are still in the room is a boundary I need to maintain. To ensure a professional atmosphere, I will leave the room before you start disrobing. Each client’s comfort is paramount; we only expose the area I am working on during treatments like deep tissue massage or myofascial dry cupping, as appropriate. Disrobing too early exposes areas we are not currently addressing, which can be distracting as we focus on your needs for that session.

Please do not touch me. I touch you as part of the treatment, but I don’t want you to touch me. That’s when it gets weird and uncomfortable, which may lead to misunderstandings regarding the professional relationship we have established.

Lastly, please respect my company policies and boundaries. I genuinely enjoy chatting with my clients and getting to know you; however, there are topics we prefer to avoid. I generally don’t engage in discussions about divisive subjects like religion or politics, or delve too deeply into our personal lives outside the spa. It’s not that I lack strong opinions; rather, it’s important to keep our relationship professional. Let’s focus on what matters—getting you to feel better and improving your wellness.

How will I feel after my massage

Most people feel relaxed after a deep tissue massage! Some experience significantly decreased, or even freedom from, aches and pains. Many feel a little slowed down for a short period of time and then notice an increase in energy, heightened awareness, and increased productivity that can last for days.

If you receive a deep tissue massage or engage in myofascial dry cupping, you may feel slightly tender or sore the next day – similar to the feeling after a good workout at the gym. The muscle tenderness that you may feel after trigger point therapy or a massage is due to the strength of the pressure used to penetrate the uppermost layers of muscle. Muscles will then feel relaxed, potentially causing fatigue or muscle aches. Again, any pain or discomfort felt after your appointment should only last a few days.

What should I wear during my massage

It’s standard practice to undress to your underwear for a massage, and you will not be required to undress further than this. This allows me to work comfortably and effectively through the back, arms, and legs. If I need to work on your Glutes (‘butt muscles’) with your consent, to help with your lower back pain, the massage is performed through a towel, keeping the massage dignified. Techniques like deep tissue massage and myofascial dry cupping can be included to enhance your experience.

During your massage, you will be draped with towels. Draping is the technique of uncovering only the part of the body that is being worked on during the massage. This allows you to be undressed to your comfort level underneath a sheet or towel, ensuring you feel safe, warm, and comfortable.

If you are not comfortable undressing for a massage, loose-fitting clothing such as shorts and vest tops can be worn instead; however, this may limit access to certain areas. Some massage therapies, including trigger point therapy and Traditional Thai foot massage, can be done while fully clothed and still maintain their full effectiveness.

What are the contraindications to massage

If you are unsure whether you are suitable for any type of massage, including deep tissue massage or myofascial dry cupping, you should consult your GP or a medical professional prior to booking your appointment.

Before your massage treatment, a full consultation will take place. If you currently have (or have had in the past six months) any of the following conditions or symptoms, and if you have suffered with any of them in the past six months, I may require written consent from your doctor. These contraindications may not necessarily disallow you from receiving a massage, including trigger point therapy, but we may need to discuss them prior to your visit to ensure that the massage proceeds safely.
